The Canada Work Permit, or a work visa, is issued to foreign persons eligible to work in Canada for a specific period of time.
Individuals must apply for a work visa only after obtaining a job offer or employment contract from a Canadian employer. The employer must obtain from the ESDC (Employment and Social Development Canada) an LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment), which will give them permission to recruit foreign skilled workers for occupations that cannot be occupied by citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

Under the Canada Work Permit Visa, you may be able to:
- Have the ability to have your spouse and children accompany you
- Earn in dollars
- Travel through Canada
- Obtain permanent residence in the future as long as you meet the requirements
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CANADA WORK PERMIT VISA:
- Prove to an immigration officer that you will be moving from Canada at the expiration of your work permit. For this reason it is important to demonstrate roots in your country.
- Have documents showing that you have sufficient funds to support yourself and your family during your stay in Canada. Although it is not necessary with a job offer this will strengthen your application.
- Have no record of any criminal activity. You may need to present a court record certificate as evidence.
- Not to be a danger to Canada’s security.
- You should be in good health and have a medical examination if necessary.
- Not having plans to work for an employer listed as ineligible by the government because you did not meet certain conditions
- Have no plans to work for an employer that offers erotic dancing, escort services, striptease, or erotic massages
- Must be ready to provide any documents required by officers to qualify for entry into Canada
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO APPLY FOR CANADA WORK PERMIT VISA
- A valid passport valid for more than 6 months from the expected date of arrival in Canada.
- Two recent passport-size photographs.
- Certificates of educational qualification if the position requires it.
- Proof of professional qualifications, including work experience.
- Proof of proof of payment by your current and/or previous employer.
- Valid job offer.
