Before I start to give the reasons why I chose to settle in a province like New Brunswick, let’s start by acknowledging that New Brunswick is one of the three maritime provinces of the Canadian Atlantic. It is the largest province of the Atlantic, but it only occupies less than 1% of the total territory of Canada.
Full of great forests, trails and beaches, New Brunswick in my opinion is a diamond in the rough that very few look at, but today it is a popular destination for families living outside or inside Canada.
I want to start by highlighting that New Brunswick is the only official bilingual province of Canada, you heard me right, it is a province where both English and French are official languages, but you do not necessarily have to know both languages to live or work here, however, for those who plan to come with children, it is a great advantage because children will have the opportunity to learn 3 languages. Spanish at home with parents, English and French at school.
In addition, it is clear that many of us come to Canada in search of a better life, however, some never achieve it in big cities where daily commutes are 40 to 60 minutes, the public transportation system is not reliable and valuable time is lost, time that can be spent with friends and / or family, but wait a minute, that DOES NOT happen in New Brunswick, here you have access to absolutely everything, but within a matter of 5 to 15 minutes from one point to another.
As the world enters into a recession New Brunswick also faces economic issues with inflation as the rest of Canada. Life has become more expensive in comparison to when I arrived but New Brunswick is still far more affordable to live in than other provinces. Although the minimum wage is not one of the highest in the country, it has the ideal balance of low cost of living and competitive salary. Furthermore, for those that dream of home ownership this is something attainable here in New Brunswick. The province has the most affordable prices. However, let’s put this into perspective.
In provinces like Ontario or British Columbia buying an apartment can cost more than $ 800k, however, here in New Brunswick that is more than enough to buy at least 2 new houses, that’s right ! This is good news for those seeking a more affordable life. If you dream of having a house in Canada someday, NB can be an excellent province to think about achieving it in the medium and why not in the short term.
Something that scares people is the weather, and while Canada is cold everywhere, New Brunswick being on the coast can sometimes feel colder, but it is more because of the wind. There are times of low temperatures, but with the right winter clothes you should have no issue, nothing that is not adaptable.
In the summer months, New Brunswick has the hottest beaches in the eastern part of North America, therefore, many residents of Canada and even the USA visit us to enjoy the beaches and temperatures above 36 ° C.
Finally, the people in New Brunswick are extremely friendly and this is something that the Latino community has appreciated a lot. Being a small province, here things are more calm, people have more time and therefore are more willing to help you.
Friends, it’s a pleasure to tell you about the interesting and important things that led me to choose New Brunswick as the ideal province for me and my family.
The question now is would you come to live in New Brunswick?
