My goal is to study in Canada, but… How do I know which is the best College or University for me?

Before choosing a program or institution, it’s important to know the following:

1.  To apply for your study permit, the institution must be a DLI (Designated Learning Institution), all the information can be found in the official website of Canada.

You can find information about your institution here.

2. An analysis of your profile based on your education, age, work experience and language level is essential.

3. Once you know each of these aspects, you should ask yourself what your true goal is when studying in Canada. Do I just want to live the experience of Studying abroad or do I want to obtain Permanent Residence in Canada?

  • If your answer is: I just want to live the experience, the search will be easier since any program can work for you. For these cases, the famous CO-OP programs of 1 or 2 years are a good choice. CO-OP programs allow you to immerse yourself in the Canadian job market while you study.
  • If your answer is: I want to achieve Permanent Residence, your search will have to be meticulous, since to achieve this goal, your program must be eligible for PGWP (Post Graduation Work Permit) which is what will allow you to work after studying, and the length of the permit will depend on the duration of your studies. The occupation you obtain and the time worked will determine your possibilities of being eligible for permanent residence.

4. What area do I want to focus on? What do I want to study ? Both colleges and universities offer higher education programs. Undergraduates, diplomas, postgraduate degrees, etc. However, master’s degrees are the only ones offered by universities. We invite you to read our blog: Differences between a College and a University

5. Once you decide what kind of program you want to study, and you know the region you wish to go to, you will find institutes focused on that particular area, or you will be able to see them in a more general way in colleges and universities.

It is important that you know that not all provinces work the same for everyone, and that each profile is different. For this reason, the path to Permanent Residence will depend on each aspect of your profile in order to build a good strategy.

If you are still not sure which province or what type of study program to choose according to what we mentioned above, we invite you to book our most requested package: Immigration + Educational Consultation
