It’s no secret that some provinces are struggling to retain migrants. That’s why provincial nomination programs are an attractive way to promote the benefits of widespread immigration across Canada. These programs allow provinces to focus on their own labor needs and give them the ability to select candidates who meet provincial labor demands.
Prior to the launch of provincial programs in 1998, most immigrants from Canada used to settle in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia. However, since 1998, Canada has seen a wider distribution of immigration across the country, as the provinces of Prairie (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba) and the Atlantic provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador) have enjoyed more success attracting immigrants thanks in large part to provincial programs.
Job growth in Saskatchewan
A recent survey by the Labour Force Survey shows that job growth has increased across the country, and in Saskatchewan much more than other Canadian provinces. Saskatchewan created 6,000 jobs in December 2021, representing a 1.1% increase over November 2021. The sectors that have experienced the most notable increases are the professional, scientific and technical services sectors. There has also been a growth of employment in the area of health, assistance social, and construction with more than 20,000 jobs combined. The figures also show that, during the same period, the private sector created 10,800 jobs, female employment increased by 10,600 jobs and youth employment increased by 7,700 jobs.
New Saskatchewan Immigration Programs:
There are a number of immigration programs for people who want to immigrate to Saskatchewan. More recently, the province launched:
The Hard to fill skills pilot that will allow Saskatchewan employers to recruit international talent for certain in-demand occupations. Eligible jobs under this pilot include non-professional positions that may require on-the-job training. Sectors with the highest labor demands in Saskatchewan include healthcare, manufacturing, agriculture, agricultural technology, construction, hospitality, and retail.
New International Healthcare Worker Expression of Interest (EOI) group under SINP, which allows candidates to submit an online form stating that they are interested in working in a selected healthcare occupation in Saskatchewan.Si are interested in migrating to Canada and want to know if you qualify for any immigration program, you can book a consultation here.
