Lately the Atlantic provinces have become popular for different reasons, such as their facilities to achieve Permanent Residence, and also for the low costs to study at some of their colleges and universities.
But before we begin, do you know which provinces make up Atlantic Canada? Here we tell you its main features:
- New Brunswick: It is the only officially bilingual province in Canada, as Québec is completely French-speaking and the rest of Canada is Anglophone (only English is spoken). Although Fredericton is the NB capital, its largest and most populous city is Moncton. The most in-demand jobs in New Brunswick are technology, health, forestry, and the entire financial and business area. Its best-known institutions are New Brunswick Community College, University of New Brunswick and Eastern College.
- Prince Edward Island: It is the only island in Canada that can only be reached by air, by car only through the confederation bridge or by sea. Its capital and most populous city is Charlottetown. It is one of the 4 least populated provinces in Canada, however, its landscapes and natures are imposing. It is ideal for those who want a quiet place to build their new life in Canada in a quiet and lonely way. Its best-known institutions are: Holland College and University of Prince Edward Island.
- Nova Scotia: It is the province in which the second largest country in the world ends to the extreme east. Its capital and most populous city is Halifax and it is one of the most important ports in North America. The most demanded jobs in this province are the sector of the fishing and food industry, technology, health, construction and truck drivers. Its best-known institutions are Nova Scotia Community College, Eastern College based in Halifax, Cape Breton University and Mount Saint Vincent University.
- Newfoundland and Labrador: It is one of the 4 least populated provinces, for this reason, just like PEI is one of the quietest destinations and especially for those who enjoy a less bustling and lonely atmosphere. It is a province that offers tranquility on a day-to-day basis, and Canadians prefer it when they decide to take a break from their daily lives. In Newfoundland and Labrador different dialects are spoken (English, Irish, Inuktitut, French). However, in St John’s its capital, the English language is dominant. It has incredible landscapes and hundreds of parks to connect with nature. The jobs in demand are in: gastronomy, technology, nursing assistants, electrical engineers and carpenters. Its best-known institutions are: College of the North Atlantic and Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Now that you know a little more about them, you can make the decision if one of these provinces is the ideal destination for you and your family.
